Paris this past weekend… my life is now complete. Marlin and I stayed with Marlin’s teachers from PUC really close to St. Germain and Le Louvre. The location was amazing and were able to walk to get to most places. Before we came, Marlin and I made a list of important foods we wanted to eat when in Paris. It included: macaroons, brioche, escargot, croissant, pain au chocolat, vin rose. Let’s just say that we got through it. :)

Paris, je t’aime. And now to prepare for our DELE exam this friday…

Italy- Pisa, Florence, Rome

I cannot believe how behind I am on this blog. I think what makes me lazy when thinking about posting is the fact that this internet on campus will take ages to post up the pictures.. but anyways I must because this is mainly for my family. So, they better be reading this. Hi family! :)

So let me recap Italy first before I recount my trip to Paris that has made my life complete.

Day 1 in Italy went to Pisa first. All there is in Pisa is literally the tower, but it’s worth it. It’s a lot more beautiful in person, as the details are amazing. What makes the pisa trip worthwhile alone is watching all the crazy tourists taking cheesy pictures with, by, along the tower. I mean really… it’s just embarrassing…

Day 2 we spent in Florence, familiarizing ourselves with the Florence adventist school, their food, and students. We went to see the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio (pictured below), and Michelangelo’s plaza… all the while filling ourselves with delicious pizza and gelato. The food possibilities here are endless!

Day 3 was crazy. We did Rome in one day. Or at least we made a good attempt at it. We left on a train at 6 in the morning and from there made our rounds. First stop was the Colosseum. It was just awesome.. nothing like it. Next stop was piazza di spagna, basically a beautiful plaza that you think of when you think of italy. Lots of fountains, flowers, people, street performers playing music, little children running around with balloons. It’s quite the sight. Then we went to my favorite place ever— the fontana di trevi. It’s just majestic; yea.. vegas has nothing on italy. It’s just weird the juxtaposition of this ancient fountain and it’s surroundings. After probably the best lunch i’ve had in my life, we went to Vatican city and visited St. Peter’s Basilica. Well, this church, besides the thousand others in Europe, is the shining example of the wealth and power of the catholic church. It is grand.

Should we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?
Job’s the man. At least so far… I have a feeling I will be disappointed shortly.

Zaragoza: And of course I cannot forget the amazing processions for Semana Santa… Yes, the hoods are a bit disarming because of their resemblance to the KKK. However, here in Spain, their faces are covered representing mourning, as well as a sign of shame for the sins they have committed throughout the year.

Barcelona: Gaudi house. living it up in the city

Barcelona and Gaudi (04.21-25.11)

La Sagrada Familia- a church that has been under construction since 1882, and is supposed to be completed in 2026… who knows really.

Park Guell- all you can really see is us, but it’s another work by Antoni Gaudi
